WASTE MANAGEMENT

Waste Management

Since 2015, we have implemented a detailed waste management concept that regulates the handling of waste on site, the disposal routes and the documentation – covering both visitor waste and all waste generated behind the scenes. Wherever possible, waste is pre-sorted in sorting facilities in order to return as many recyclable materials as possible back into the recycling cycle. The initial focus is on reducing avoidable waste and gaining a better understanding of the waste generated in order to develop targeted measures.

To make waste separation easier, every guest receives two garbage bags upon entry: a yellow one for packaging and a transparent one for residual waste. Glass, gas cartridges, batteries, electrical devices, deposit containers and paper do not belong in these bags, but can be handed in at the festival’s waste collection service. For easy disposal, recycling islands with separate sections for packaging, paper/cardboard and residual waste are available throughout the entire campsite. In addition, the waste collection service drives across the entire campsite from Saturday to Monday, collects your garbage bags and other types of waste and is available to answer questions about waste and recycling.

Backstage, all staff members and participants are also required to separate their waste, and proper disposal for vendors, sponsors and food service providers is organized through commercial waste facilities. Since 2022, the project Trasholution has been in place to connect social and environmental sustainability: for every bag of correctly disposed waste, we donate one euro to social projects in the festival region. For a garbage bag containing properly sorted packaging waste, the donation is doubled.
